DIFFERabled are offering this FREE 5 week course for neurodivergent young people, in connection with DEKKO Comics. The course suits 9-14 year olds (late primary to secondary years). The course begins in January during school hours, and is based from The Glasgow Science Centre. Each young person with their parent / carer can attend the course which looks at how neurodivergent students can struggle in school and provides some understanding of how they can use neurodiverse strengths to implement different ways of learning.
On completion, attendees will have:
Learned how to turn information into comics and other forms of entertainment through the Dekko Technique
Developed independent study skills
Gained confidence in turning their school struggles with conventional learning styles, into school strengths based around their own unique creative learning style.
The Glasgow Science Centre has provided a room, The Bothy, which is close to the entrance of the building and can be adjusted to suit many needs.
Parking is available and at no cost.
Our Therapy dog, Clover, is sometimes present at these sessions to help provide a calming environment, however please do let us know if you have any allergies etc and we’ll arrange for Clover not to be at your session. We keep Clover on a lead, she likes a wee pat on the head which people are welcome to do in break times, but we ask that Clover is left alone during the course itself.
If you would like your young person to join the course, please contact Helen Gibson on: helendifferabled@gmail.com
Please note that the adult is responsible for their child at all times during the course, including if they leave the room.
